Day One - Managua

  • 8 pm arrival to Managua (if noon arrival-see Day 1 alternate)
  • 9-10 pm Brief orientation and settle into Hotel in Managua

Day 1 (alternate)

  • 12:35 arrival to Managua airport
  • 1:35 Drive to Jinotega (Finca El Petén Hostel and Organic Coffee farm)
  • afternoon tours and recreation

Day Two - Jinotega

  • Eat breakfast-1 hr
  • 9 am-morning departure for Jinotega (roughly 2.5 hrs)
  • 11:30 arrive Finca El Peten, Jinotega
  • Settle into Hostel
  • 1:00 Family style lunch at Hostel
  • 2:00-4:00 Tour of Finca El Peten 2hrs-Organic Coffee Workshop
  • 4:00-6:00 Orientation discussion
  • 6:00 Dinner at Hostel
  • 7:00-8:00 Free time
  • 8:00-9:00 Group Discussion
  • 10:00 pm: bedtime

Day Three - Jinotega

  • 7-8 am: breakfast
  • 9am: Leave for Village of San Rafael del Noret/introduction to community
  • 12 pm: Lunch in homestay
  • 1-4: Community Development Projects
  • 4-5 pm: Group discussion
  • 6 pm: Dinner in Homestay and remainder of evening with homestay family

Day Four - Village of San Rafael del Norte

  • 7 am: breakfast in homestay
  • 8am-12pm: Community Development Projects(specific project to be determined)
  • 12pm-2pm: Lunch and rest in homestay
  • 2-5pm: Community Development Projects(specific project to be determined)
  • 6 pm: Dinner in Homestay and remainder of evening with homestay family

Day Five - Village of San Rafael del Norte

  • 7-8 am: breakfast in homestay
  • 8am-12pm: Community Development Projects(specific project to be determined)
  • 12pm-2pm: Lunch in Homestay
  • 2-5pm: Community Development Projects(specific project to be determined)
  • 6 pm: Dinner in Homestay and remainder of evening with homestay family

Day Six - Village of San Rafael del Norte

  • 7-8 am: breakfast in homestay
  • 8am-12pm: Community Development Projects(specific project to be determined)
  • 12pm-5pm: Afternoon Excursion in surrounding mountains
  • 6 pm: Dinner in Homestay and remainder of evening with homestay family

Day Seven - Somoto

  • 6 am: breakfast in homestay
  • 7 am: goodbyes and departure for Somoto
  • 10 am: Arrive Somoto and begin canyoneering trip in the Somoto Canyon
  • 10-4pm: Trip in Somoto Canyon
  • 5 pm: Settle into hotel in Somoto
  • 6 pm: Dinner in Somoto
  • 8-9pm: Group Discussion
  • 10 pm: Bedtime

Day Eight - San Juan del Sur

  • 7-8 am: breakfast in hotel
  • 8am: Depart for Granada/San Juan del sur
  • 12pm: Lunch and historic tour in Granada
  • 2-4 pm: Canopy Tour-Mombacho Cloud Forest
  • 5:30 pm: Arrive San Juan del sur
  • 6pm: Dinner in group Homestay
  • 7-9pm: Free Time/Internet Access
  • 10pm: bed

Day Nine - San Juan del sur

  • 8 am: breakfast in homestay
  • 9am-12pm: Surf lesssons and Surfing
  • 12-1 pm: Lunch at beach
  • 1-5pm: Free time: Check out San Juan del Sur/Recreation at beach
  • 5pm: Free time in San Juan del sur
  • 6pm: Dinner in homestay
  • 8-9pm: group discussion
  • 10pm: bedtime

Day Ten - Laguna de Apoyo

  • 8 am: breakfast in homestay
  • 9am-12pm: Community Development at Local School
  • 12pm: Lunch at Homestay
  • 1pm: Leave San Juan del sur for Laguna de Apoyo
  • 2 pm: Arrive Monkey Hut Lodge
  • 2-6: afternoon recreation on lake
  • 6pm: Dinner at Monkey Hut Lodge

Day Eleven - Laguna de Apoyo

  • 8am: breakfast in hostel
  • 9am: leave for La Chureca and Colegio Esperanza
  • 10 am: service work with Colegio Esperanza and community at La Chureca (municipal Landfill)
  • 12pm Lunch in Managua
  • 1-3 pm shopping at Masaya’s artesan market
  • 4-6: Free time at Monkey Hut/Lake
  • 6pm: dinner
  • 8pm Final Group Discussion

Day Twelve - Travel Home

  • Return home

  • $1500 deposit due December 1st
  • Full payment due January 31st
  • Enrollment packages will be distributed by December 15th and must be completed no later than January 15th
